Strand was responsible for conducting the life extension fatigue analysis on the Tornado main and nose landing gears. This work covered all Tornado variants currently in service. To do this the Strand engineer utilised stress equations (developed in house using MathCad) along with customer supplied spectrum data. The actual analysis, based on miner's rule was done in Excel spreadsheets.
The Blue Vixen radars cooling system installation in the Tornado Nose Cone was also covered. This involved a static analysis of the systems mounting structure.
