Structural Integrity

As a mature technical establishment, Strand Aerospace Malaysia (SAM) has successfully provided technical support to various worldwide Aerospace companies including Airbus UK, Airbus North America, BAE System and GKN Aerospace. Currently, Strand Aerospace Malaysia is paving the way for developing Aircraft Structural Integrity (ASI) capability lead by ASI specialists with more than 20 years of experience. The SAM ASI specialists experience includes:

  1. Development of ageing aircraft structural audit policy document including development of aging aircraft structural audit (AAA) specification.
  2. Transition of certification basis for military platforms
  3. Airframe life extension programme
  4. Developing and conducting ASI training
  5. Constructing ASI capability development plan
  6. Investigation into the use of helicopter Health Usage Monitoring System (HUMS)
  7. Fatigue life assessment for various British Royal Air Force (RAF) aircraft such as Hawk, Harrier, Hawker Hunter, Meteor and Gnat
  8. Structural life assessment for the US Navy (USN) A-3D and A-4
  9. Structural life assessment for the RAF Nimrod using the Operation Load Monitoring (OLM) data
  10. Fatigue test correlation assessment of USN T-45
  11. Fatigue life extension on VC-10

Recently, SAM has successfully conducted the ASI training for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), Science and Technology Research Institute for Defence (STRIDE), universities lecturer and other enforcement agencies. Furthermore, SAM is currently supporting the RMAF Teardown inspection programme. SAM is capable to provide the following support:
